Sista Soldier: Closing Ceremony - Trinidad

Legally-blind artist and historian Chloé Duplessis will officially unveil her latest collections of works. SISTA SOLDIER is an immersive exhibit offered in celebration of Cathay Williams, the only known female Buffalo Soldier, and the first female American of African descent to serve in the United States Army.

The exhibit will feature historical artifacts, original works of art, and handmade garments created from burlap, paper and ancestral fabric.

Duplessis is the creator of Denver's first accessible "I VOTED" sticker and co - creator of the noted Holding Hope mural located in RiNo Art District. She has traveled to nine countries and 24 states in support of the work, and is known for creating art and immersive experiences that center accessibility and illuminate the lesser-known stories of historical figures of color.

The closing ceremony for the exhibit will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Attendees will participate in an ancestral release ceremony in celebration of Cathay Williams.
