Sista Soldier: Closing Ceremony - Trinidad
Legally-blind artist and historian Chloé Duplessis will officially unveil her latest collections of works. SISTA SOLDIER is an immersive exhibit offered in celebration of Cathay Williams, the only known female Buffalo Soldier, and the first female American of African descent to serve in the United States Army.
The exhibit will feature historical artifacts, original works of art, and handmade garments created from burlap, paper and ancestral fabric.
Duplessis is the creator of Denver's first accessible "I VOTED" sticker and co - creator of the noted Holding Hope mural located in RiNo Art District. She has traveled to nine countries and 24 states in support of the work, and is known for creating art and immersive experiences that center accessibility and illuminate the lesser-known stories of historical figures of color.
The closing ceremony for the exhibit will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Attendees will participate in an ancestral release ceremony in celebration of Cathay Williams.

Music For a Cause - Alamosa
Bob has been a pillar of the music community in the SLV for decades. He was one of the very first people that stuck out to me when I moved here to study music. It was immediately apparent to me that he was always ready to help any musician in any way he could. His generosity was no secret either. In fact, his reputation preceded our meeting. Now, 16 years on, I've seen a number of impressively hard situations fall in Bob's path. To show our appreciate and support and raise funds to give back, 5 awesome bands are putting put on an afternoon of free music to officially kick off our GoFundMe (linked below).
Please join us during the October First Friday put on by Visit Alamosa, Oct 6 from 3-10 PM as the music community comes together to donate their time and passions. Music will be held in the Parking lot behind SpareKeg Brewerks and Del Mar Carpet. Cash donations will be accepted at the event or by contacting Marc Eaton.
